INDO UK Collaboration Activities at the Care Institute of Behavioural sciences, Chennai with initiative and support by The British Deputy High Commision, Chennai Since 2010.
In January 2010, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Clinical Psychology Unit, University of Leicester, UK under the Headship of Prof. Michael Wang. As a part of MOU we have exchange programme by faculties and students between the two institutions.
UK collaborative Health Care and Education programmes at the Care Institute of Behavioural Sciences, Chennai are possible and progressing very well by the continuous support and encouragement by the UK Trade & Investment team and INDO UK Health Care Initiative Group of the British Deputy High Commission, South India, Chennai.
Exchange Programme For Professional Development:
Two faculties of the Care IBS visited University of Leicester, UK and had two weeks orientation training in Clinical Psychology in 2010.
Seven D.Clinical Psychology Trainees from University of Leicester, UK visited Care Institute of Behavioural Sciences, Chennai in 2011 to 2014. They had two weeks training in various areas of Clinical Psychology in Chennai and Puduchery.
Four faculties from the Department of Clinical Psychology, University of Leicester, UK had one week orientation visit on Clinical Psychological services in Chennai organized by Care IBS in September 2014.
Three P.G. Diploma in LD students from the Care IBS have visited University of Leicester, UK for internship / orientation for two weeks in November 2014 as a part of Exchange programme between the University of Leicester, UK and Care IBS, Chennai. They successfully completed the Internship training and return to India.
Prof. Michael Wang, Emeritus Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology, University of Leicester, UK has donated Neuropsychological Test materials, Text books, Journals for the benefit of students at the Care IBS, Chennai.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Training (CBT)
In addition to the University of Leicester programme, since 2011 we are conducting Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Training Programme by Dr. Andrew Beck, Senior Lecturer, University of Manchester and Supervisor at Salford Cognitive Therapy Training Centre, Manchester, UK and Dr. Deborah McNally, Director, Salford Cognitive Therapy Training Centre, Manchester, UK. We have conducted three Level I CBT Programmes so far. In this Programme we have participants from all over India and we have trained 40 Mental Health Professionals. We have conducted Level 2 CBT Programme by Dr. Andrew Beck in September 2013. All these workshops were weeklong programmes.
Healthcare & HR Workshop:
Workshop on “Workplace Stress & Emotional Health of Employees” was conducted by Dr.Andrew Beck, UK for HR executives of multinational companies in South India.
One day workshop on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder” by Prof. Derek Bolton, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Institute of Psychiatry King’s College London, UK.
